Our Unique Program

Our goal is to improve the quality of life for people with sensory processing disorders. We are the first provider in the country to address sensory-related problems with a technology-driven, simultaneous, multi-modality program that can be customized for each person. Our Individualized Sensory Program is a foundational intervention that accelerates sensory integration and can improve learning abilities in people of all ages. It can benefit those who suffer from autism, attention deficit disorder, learning and behavioral problems, certain visual impairments and various other conditions. Regardless of the labels which may have been assigned, we believe that every person is inherently unique. We are always interested in our clients' personal histories and strive to meet the particular needs of the individual. The following testimony is a wonderful success story by one of our valued clients.

We first heard about the Sensory Center through our son's first grade teacher. She sent us to a conference hosted by the Sensory Center featuring guest speaker, Annabel Stehli, in November 2005. At this point, we had tried everything we could think of to help our son. (Jarod had been diagnosed PDD / NOS in the Spring of 2005.) He had difficulty in school concentrating on his work and exhibiting proper social behavior.

At the conference, we listened to Annabel’s heart filled journey of her experiences with her and her daughter’s daily struggle with autism as a child. More importantly, we heard about her daughter’s miraculous recovery through the same training provided by the Sensory Center. We were very impressed with the presentation and solicited Jarod’s pediatrician for a referral. We were told by our pediatrician that “there is no known cure for autism,” so we might as well try it.

We were extremely skeptical at first. How in the world could lying on a motion bed, earphones with different sounds, and a changing light possibly help our child? It seemed like ‘voodoo’ to us. But, on the other hand, the human mind is a true mystery. We had nothing to lose.

Jarod’s treatments began in December and continued through January 2006. In the first few weeks after the treatment, we didn’t think we saw any improvement. And then, much to our surprise, we started seeing changes in Jarod. He was more aware of other people and events around him … and commented on them! He asked us how our day was for a change. We always dreaded phone calls from school because it usually meant Jarod exhibited some improper social behavior. Instead, he actually received a citizenship award for the month of February. During the last 18 weeks of 1st grade, he progressed from having “Unsatisfactory” and “Non-Mastery” grades to being on the honor roll. Things seemed to just ‘click’ for him! The crowning glory included visits to the dentist, doctor and barber. He no longer cried, kicked, and screamed while getting a simple haircut. He no longer slapped the dentist hygienist for just looking in his mouth. No more fits and tears at the doctor’s office. He’d allow physicians to touch him without fighting! We strongly believe that the changes in Jarod would not have occurred without the services provided at the Sensory Center. We are so glad that we listened to Annabel and took that chance. We owe so much of Jarod’s success to the patient and talented people at the Sensory Center and encourage all parents who have children suffering from Autism, ADD, ADHD, or Dyslexia to seriously consider sending their child as soon as possible. Believe in them, your child, and your ability to give your child a better quality of life!
